DIVING IN MALTA
The
Maltese archipelago situated in the middle
of the Mediterranean Sea and is formed by
three major Islands, which are Malta, Gozo,
and Comino. Malta is largest Island and
covers an area of 246 square kilometers
with approximately 380,000 citizens. The
Local language is Maltese but English is
also very well spoken and considered as
our second language. The Maltese Islands
offer a variety of dive sites, some of the
most common and interesting are wrecks,
reefs and caves. An example is the Rozi
Tug Boat situated at Cirkewwa or else the
Santa Maria Caves in Comino.
The
majority of them are very easily accessed
either from shore or by boat and offer top
quality dives and a large variety of underwater
life. For this reason Malta is considered
as a top class diving destination for experienced
divers, but not only, this is also an opportunity
to start diving for beginners. The numerous
sheltered bays offer shallow and easy dive
conditions suitable for first time divers.
The climate is relatively warm all year
round reaching a maximum temperature of
31°C in the hot summer season an average
of 15 in the winter time. On most dives
we get a 30 meter visibility that in other
words means "crystal clear!",
and the average water temperature is 20°C.
